Our Leaders

Pastor Seth Filburn

"I am very excited to be serving at Bell Chapel UMC. The community is wonderful and the congregation is friendly, kind, and are invested in relationships. My beautiful wife of nearly 20 years, Kindra, and I are parents to four (mostly) wonderful children: Isaiah (16), Maya (15), Josiah (12), and Gideon (10). I’m just kidding, they are great kids. They are very active and we enjoy running around to various sporting events and whatever other adventures being a family of six bring us. We look forward to being planted in this community for years to come and seek to show others the love, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus in everything we say and do. We are happy to be United Methodist and want to continue to see God’s Kingdom grow and more and more people come to know and experience God’s unending love and amazing grace."

Pastor Seth grew up out West, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he received his calling into youth ministry while in 8th grade and 12 years old. He had plans to attend a Bible College and major in youth ministry until things changed significantly and his family moved to Saint Clairsville, Ohio the summer between his sophomore and junior years of high school. Seth then attended Malone University in Canton, Ohio and majored in Youth ministry. He was first introduced to a United Methodist Church while serving an internship at Carrollton First UMC. He was then hired full time upon graduation and served as the youth pastor and community youth center director in Carrollton from 2004-2013. While serving at Carrollton First, Seth felt a calling into ordained ministry and was encouraged to attend seminary. He attended Ashland Theological Seminary from 2008-2013 (part-time), and earned his Masters of Divinity. He was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in June of 2018. Pastor Seth has also served as pastor of Gnadenhutten UMC from 2013-2018 and Lincoln Avenue UMC in Shadyside from 2018-2024.
